Peeling during summer
There are different types of peeling. Even during the summer, we do not want to give up beautiful skin – smooth, firm, and even (and peeling is the best treatment to achieve this goal); however, some extra caution is needed in this season. Although it is untrue that we cannot do any peeling in summer, we indeed need to select the best treatment for us very carefully – and only after consulting an expert.
Peels during summer: which ones to use
We all know what peels are: they are skin treatments that use the action of different acids to exfoliate the skin. The acids of different intensities can “dissolve” and remove dead cells and the stratum corneum of the skin, which, as it dries, peels away from the skin for real skin regeneration. The removal of the stratum corneum and, possibly, part of the epidermis cells, makes the skin much more sensitive to sunlight (for this reason, after any type of peeling it is recommended to avoid sun exposure for a few days). The good news, however, is that there is a type of peel that can be used even during the warmer season. What is it? Let’s find out together.
Mandelic acid peel
Effective at exfoliating the skin and proven to successfully treat skin imperfections such as acne, uneven pigmentation, and photoaging, mandelic acid peeling is ideal for removing blemishes and discolorations and minimizing certain imperfections such as pores. By acting only on the most superficial part of the stratum corneum, thus removing dead cells, mandelic acid peeling can be done year-round.
Warning: Even after non-photosensitizing peels such as mandelic acid it is wise to shield oneself from the sun, as skin thinned by the treatment may be more sensitive to the effects of sun exposure and get sunburned.
When on the other hand, it is best to say no to peeling?
When the skin is irritated by the sun or if it is very sensitive. In these cases, it is better to opt for a face mask with exfoliating action and postpone aesthetic medicine treatment until the following months.
The treatment to do at home
Soft-Peeling Antiaging is an exfoliating facial treatment that combats the most common skin imperfections due to chrono-aging: wrinkles, discolorations, and hyperpigmentation.
